Moving Rooms Fallout Shelter: A New Chapter for Cherokee Elementary Library

As students prepare to return to class in the coming weeks, a significant transformation is underway at Cherokee Elementary School. The library, once surrounded by classrooms and subject to noise pollution, is set to relocate to a new space that promises more quiet, more storage, and even more restrooms.

According to Principal Marissa McCoy, the old library was situated in a busy area, with classrooms nearby that would often carry over into the library's atmosphere. The constant noise would not only disrupt learning but also create an uncomfortable environment for students and staff. 'It will be bigger, and it'll just be a little more quiet,' McCoy explained, highlighting one of the primary benefits of the relocation.

The new library space is being built in the area formerly occupied by the cafeteria, while the old library building will be converted into a special services room. This innovative use of space will feature amenities such as a clothing closet, shower facilities, washer and dryer, and even a nurse's station – a significant upgrade from the current setup.

The relocation project is part of a larger bond initiative approved in spring 2022, which also includes renovations at Greenwood Elementary and the construction of new structures by the Tahlequah High School baseball/softball field. TPS Superintendent Tanya Jones emphasized that these projects are essential for providing students with optimal learning environments.

With the new library expected to be completed by December, school officials plan to use Christmas Break as an opportunity to relocate the old library to its new space. This will enable a seamless transition and minimize disruptions to daily operations.
